Our Program Overview

Junior School Programs

Our Junior School Programs are designed for young students in school groups. Borderlands provides a soft entry into the world of outdoor living and adventure activities.

Ages 9 - 11
Duration of 3 days, 2 nights
Activities range from rafting, climbing, canyoning, kayaking to trust games and treasure hunts

Option to contribute to the local community with a service day

Youth Leadership Programs

Our program offers an exciting series of workshops and outdoor activities to help develop confidence outside of the classroom, enabling students to find unique abilities within themselves and encourages them to use these skills once they leave Borderlands.

Week without Walls

By offering authentic, outside-the-classroom experiences, this program takes students outside their usual comfort zones by exposing them to new situations in a totally different cultural environment.

Ages 11 and up
Duration of 5 - 7 nights
We focus on building self-esteem, leadership, team and creative thinking skills with our array of outdoor activities and workshops
Activities include hiking, canyoning, rafting, kayaking and more as well as a community service project

Youth Expeditions

In our expeditions students learn the basics of wilderness camping: Under our guidance, students are responsible for setting up camp, cooking all meals and general camp chores. The expeditions are an excellent place for students to gain teamwork and leadership experience.

Borderlands - Our Camp in Kitulgala

Borderlands Sri Lanka was established in 2004 by Wade Campbell. Hailing from Canada, Wade has more than four decades of experience in delivering outdoor adventure and training programs across North America and Asia. Wade believes in introducing younger generations to the great outdoors in a safe environment.

Learning from Adventure

We offer junior school programs for younger students, youth leadership programs and a week without walls. All of our programs focus on building confidence as a team in a safe learning outdoor environment. From river rafting to discovering prehistoric caves our internationally certified guides take groups of up to 90 students on adventures in the surrounding area.

Stay in the Jungle

The students stay in our jungle eco lodge on the Kelani river where we take them on adventures in the hills and on the river itself. We provide a safe stay in our dorms for the students and have private cabins for the teaching staff. We value balanced, delicious meals and source our ingredients locally.

Give Back to the Local Community

We incorporate community service into almost all our school programs. These experiences can have a profound impact on a young persons perspective of the world and is often an unexpected highlight during our programs. We work with local village schools to provide water systems, re-roofing, computer labs and more. All planning, staffing, and administration costs are donated by Borderlands.
